Regional China

There are eight regions of China that have a distinct culinary style due to factors such as climate, geography, history, and lifestyle. Chinese cuisine is one of the most popular ethnic cuisines in America, but less than half of operators menu Chinese dishes and/or flavors. This discrepancy is actually a huge opportunity for manufacturers and operators looking to menu or create something unique that appeals to consumers across demographics. However, simply menuing a regional cuisine is not enough; make sure to tell how each region is different from the others in order to encourage them to try something new!

• 58% of consumers would like more restaurants to offer fare dedicated to a specific region of China.
• Gen Z prefers Chinese cuisine over any other type of ethnic cuisine.
